Description

Our government client is seeking the services of a writer with Enhanced clearance.

Duties

  • Write and/or edit content for the Web and print. Print content could include reports, learning modules, fact sheets, brochures, etc. Web content could include introduction pages, articles, highlights, summaries, reports, captions and text for interactive modules, etc. The content is aimed at a general audience of stakeholders and consumers.
  • Use plain language and information design principles to structure complex information to be more consumer-friendly.
  • Use best practices in Web writing to prepare documents for Health Canada’s websites – include style, formatting, search engine optimization and government guidelines.
  • Provide advice and guidance to Health Canada clients on the information needs of a general public/consumer audience.
  • Complete research and analysis related to consumer safety and related topics.
  • Prepare Web-appropriate adaptations of printed material, such as with language, style and format suitable for reading on a web page.
  • Prepare plain language summaries of complex documents or scientific reports intended for specialized audiences.

Qualifications

  • The proposed resource must provide proof of a certificate, diploma, or degree from a recognized post secondary institution in communications, English, translation, journalism or other related fields.
  • The proposed resource has recent and significant experience* in writing documents for the Web (including search engine optimization), writing and editing documents for clarity/plain language, and providing clear writing advice to clients.
  • The proposed resource has recent and significant experience* in working with style guides, including the Canadian Style: A Guide to Writing and Editing.
  • The proposed resource has recent and significant experience* in providing strategic communications advice to senior management (Director-level and above).

*Recent: within the last 36 months
*Significant: experience acquired in 24 months of performing the duties.
